Production: Rough Cut 2

Planning: Work on Production and Distribution Identity

   PRODUCTION & DISTRIBUTION IDENTITY.
(DMG PRODUCTIONS)
We used Motion to create our title credits/opening,
we decided to keep it simple with a plain background and
text. The font we used was "Courier" as it
readable and it symbolises the theme of the typewriter and being on the computer (cyber).

We have considered this font as you will be able to hear a typewriter during our opening sequence as the main character will be typing during it, it would be conventional to have font that matches the sound.

Screenshot of the process making the title credits on motion :

Here we are experimenting on motion, with the different angles
the text will appear from and how it will exit
the frame.

The title of the film which is "CYB3R" will be in the largest
font size compared to the rest of the credit list as this
will make it easier for the viewers to identify the title
of the movie and credits/productions.
Here is a screenshot of what the credits will look like, e.g - list of cast and people involved within
the process of filming & production.

Although it looks like its on a black background, it is actually transparent so we can lay this over the
scenes of our opening movie.

Production: Filming Day 3

After our feedback from our first rough cut, we decided to take out two cameras in order to get the same shot, from two different angles. This photo shows that Mimi's camera is at eye level, allowing the audience to see the actors' facial expressions. Gaby's camera is positioned at hip level and was on able to tilt. This allowed this camera to follow the action of the character and focus on their clothing, making it clear which stereotype they belonged to.

This camera is positioned in the corner of the 3rd floor landing. It's able to capture a wide shot of 'The Nerd' walking up the stairs.

Planning: Sound Design, first draft (task 29)

We plan on having a typewriter running through our whole opening sequence, stopping when seen necessary.

For our opening sequence we will be using garage band to create a track that sounds suspenseful, dark and airy. This will allow the audience to acknowledge that the film is a thriller.

We will have glitch sounds during the title sequence so that it sounds 'techy' and allows the audience to make a connection with computers.
Here is a screen grab of our experimentation for our sound track. We included typewriter sounds (Work/Home) the type writer speed is quick, creating tension and suspense. We added a drone (Stringers) which sounds deep. This adds additional

Planning: Films that inspired and influenced our film

More clips that have influenced our choice:
Before filming our rough cut, we researched into more thriller/teen films which would help us gain inspiration for our thriller opening scene, here are some that we found inspiring ..

The Roommate (2011) an American thriller film. It's based on conflict between two roommates when they move into their new dorm room.

Mean Girls (2004) a typical High School Drama. We were influenced by this as it introduces a range of typical students, such as 'The Plastics', 'The Nerds' and 'The Jocks'

Unfriended (2015) is also an American High School thriller. The plot is about a girl who had an indecent video posted of her on social networking sites and was cyber bullied to a point in which she committed suicide. Her ghost/soul avenged her death my killing the people who could have possibly posted the video online, whilst they were on a skype conference call. We were influenced by this film as we want to base our one around social networking.

Reviews: Footage, Comments about Framing, Lighting, Shot types & Use of props.

After watching the rough cut we received feedback/reviews, here are the improvements we need to make ..

improvements :

- We plan to change the location to the lunch hall because in the lunch hall they can be more relaxed, act upon their stereotype more and and you can clearly see their mise-en-scene.

- Bring in more props for mise-en-scene
e.g. shopping bags, sketch books paintbrushes, footballs.

- Think about our lighting and surroundings.

- Consider the orders in which we are doing things.

- More extreme close ups and different shots for match cuts.

- Use tripod.

- Take out two cameras so that we can shoot different scenes and angles at one time.

- Make sure the camera is focused.

- Make sure the tripod is levelled.

feedback :

- Plan better shots for a variety of shot types.

- Mise-en-scene in the back ground; such as anti-bullying posters.

- Our costumes were good as it expressed the character's role and (stereotype) however, our props needed to be improved to emphasise the location/setting.

- Get better lighting as some scenes it was difficult to see what was occurring within the scene due to the dark lighting.

-
